With the timetable change in December, ÖBB is increasing ticket prices in Austria due to high energy prices. Second class tickets cost an average of 3.9 percent more. First class will also be more expensive.
If you buy a 2nd class ticket from Vienna to Salzburg on the day of departure, you pay 28.30 euros with the Vorteilscard online or in the app, which is 40 cents more than before.
Early booking saves money
However, the dynamic price system will be retained: the earlier you book, the cheaper the trip will be. If you buy a ticket at the counter, from a machine, online or in the app 15 days or earlier before the trip, you pay exactly the same price as before. That would be 26.70 euros on the Vienna-Salzburg route.
Also affected 1st class
It is also cheaper to book early and online in 1st class. In addition, 1st class customers receive an included reservation when they buy their ticket online, in the ÖBB app or at the cash register. The price for the 1st class ticket with the Vorteilscard increases from 46.80 euros to 52.40 euros. However, the booking fee of 3 euros is already included here.
