EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson meets with local representatives from industry, OPEC and the Atomic Energy Organization in Vienna. They are currently calculating the follow-up costs that a total embargo from Russia would entail.
“We must be ready, new crimes must have serious consequences,” said EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, explaining plans for a total embargo in Russia. This should be followed by coal, oil and gas, the follow-up costs of which are currently calculated in Brussels.
Joint procurement of liquefied gas is planned
A platform was immediately set up for the joint procurement of liquefied gas, the US had promised to supply 50 billion cubic meters this year and Qatar, Norway and Azerbaijan could also contribute more (pipeline) gas. This should fill the storage facilities in Europe as quickly as possible. At the same time, the eco-energy expansion is needed even faster.
Simson talks about this in Vienna with Austrian energy companies and representatives of the oil countries and the nuclear industry.
