Visit for takeover – Musk carries sink to Twitter headquarters

Date:

Tesla boss Elon Musk visited the headquarters of the short-messaging service Twitter in San Francisco on Wednesday (local time). “Enter Twitter HQ – let this sink in!” read the caption of a video Musk tweeted.

The billionaire joked with the video that he had a sink with him when he entered the building, referring to the fact that he literally took the title of his Twitter post: let that sink in the sink clean. Moments later, he tweeted that he had met a lot of “cool people” during his visit.

Apparently, after all that back and forth over the purchase of the social media platform, Musk wanted to entertain the action. Lately, media reports of a potential job loss among workers had likely made for long faces. As the Bloomberg agency reportedly learned from an insider on Thursday, Musk apparently reassured Twitter employees during his visit, explaining that he has no plans to cut three-quarters of all jobs after the acquisition.

Acquisition expected to be completed on Friday
According to a media report, the acquisition should be completed by Friday. Citing an insider, The Wall Street Journal reports that banks have already started transferring $13 billion to support Musk’s acquisition. Once final closing conditions are met, Musk would be given the funds to complete the transaction by Friday, the paper said.

The richest man in the world had announced that he wanted to take over Twitter for $44 billion (43.90 billion euros). Including additional costs, the total amounts to 46.5 billion dollars (46.16 billion euros). Musk had meanwhile announced that he would withdraw from the purchase, which Twitter management did not want to accept. Musk later agreed to buy it again. Twitter shares are up about 1.1 percent in extended trading to $53.91, slightly below Musk’s offer price.
