Profit in the billions – OMV wants to look for more gas in the Waldviertel

Date:

OMV is planning a new well in the Waldviertel. The company’s profits are up 122% to date.

CEO Alfred Stern announced that this year OMV will be looking for additional domestic natural gas by drilling in the Weinviertel. “We have a 45 percent market share in the gas supply and are doing everything we can to supply our customers completely without Russian gas.” OMV also brings larger quantities to us from its own wells in Norway and the liquefied gas terminal in Rotterdam.

From 2027, a field in the Black Sea will also produce. As previously reported, liquefied gas will also come from Abu Dhabi next year. Recently, nearly two billion euros of gas was purchased to fill the domestic storage facilities.

No large excess profits to tax
So there would in fact be no large excess profits taxed, Stern said of the accompanying EU resolution, which is still under discussion in member states. However, as a precautionary measure, OMV will pay an extra dividend of 736 million euros this year. Of this flow, EUR 232 million flows to the Republic through the state holding company ÖBAG.

You can afford it: by the end of September, the turnover of the energy and plastics group had doubled to almost 49 billion euros and profits even increased by 122 percent to 4.7 billion euros.
