New role for Mark – These managers lead Red Bull into the future of cans

Date:

Effective immediately, Mateschitz’s confidants Franz Watzlawick, Alexander Kirchmayr and Oliver Mintzlaff will run the day-to-day running of Red Bull from Fuschl. Son Mark announced this on Friday. The heir now also has a new role.

Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz passed away two weeks ago at the age of 78. Since then, there has been the wildest speculation about how things would go on in the can world, whether there would be a fundamental reorganization.

A letter published Friday by son Mark Mateschitz to the 13,500 employees worldwide now provides at least some insight into the new separation of powers. Henceforth, a senior triumvirate will lead the operational affairs. However, Mateschitz’s heir is resigning from his operations in the Organics beverage division, which the 30-year-old was most recently involved in.

Like his father, he is the head of Distribution and Marketing GmbH and therefore also owns 49 percent of the large umbrella company Red Bull GmbH. As a reminder, the Thai Yoovidhya family owns 51 percent of it.

Marketing genius is also part of the game
At least for now it seems clear that the big aviation fan Mark has to work in the background. And unlike Dietrich Mateschitz, he is less consulted as a permanent decision-maker. Mintzlaff, Watzlawick and Kirchmayr are now in charge of these tasks. The 47-year-old German Mintzlaff made a name for himself as a tough and decisive man at football club RB Leipzig. The 55-year-old Watzlawick had also been with the group for a long time. He led Red Bull Germany, among others. Kirchmayr, 51, has held various positions at Fuschl since 2005 and is a financial man.

On the other hand, former board members Roland Concin (70), Walter Bachinger (55) and Volker Viechtbauer (57) have to accept an internal relegation, at least at first glance. You are now an advisor, for example for Mark Mateschitz. Marcus Weber (52), most recently also on the board, is now also authorized to sign. Born in Lower Austria, he is considered a marketing genius and continues to lead in this field.

One thing also leaked out from Fuschl: advertising spending, which has been minimally reduced for years, will not increase for the time being. It is said to be a sign of goodwill towards the Thais.
