Elon Musk’s company has decided to wait until after the US election

The social network Twitter is said to have decided to postpone the launch of its new payment plan for verified accounts until after the midterm elections in the United States, according to CNN.

The decision to delay the feature proposed by the company’s new owner, Elon Musk, comes after he faced widespread public backlash, as the move could make it harder to differentiate between real users. and those posing as celebrities and politicians.

Twitter’s verification mark has long been used to authenticate government officials, prominent figures and journalists, whose move has succumbed to criticism, not least because of fears it could affect the US election.

However, the change in the payment plan’s launch date comes a day after the platform launched an updated version of its application for iOS – the operating system of Apple phones – which describes that users who pay eight euros per month can agree to get a blue verification sign.

More specifically, the latest update to the app has been described in Apple’s App Store as a new authentication feature “just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.”
