For 115 million euros – Semperit sells glove division to Asians

A blast in the local economy: Semperit AG Holding sells its medical activities to the Southeast Asian glove manufacturer HARPS for no less than 115 million euros. That was published on Friday. It is the Sempermed division, ie the trade in surgical and examination gloves.

Harps Global Pte. Ltd is located in Singapore, the production site is in Malaysia. The signing of the contract with Semperit took place in Vienna on Friday.

The production in Wimpassing will not be sold for the time being
According to Semperit, “Initially, the production of surgical gloves in Wimpassing, Austria, and their packaging in Sopron, Hungary, which will continue for several years as contract production for the buyer, are excluded from the sale,” the press release said. The transaction still needs the green light from the responsible authorities. This is expected for the second quarter of 2023.

“Requirement for an increase in value”
In this context, Semperit also announced an expected “recovery of value” in the range of approximately EUR 30 to 35 million for Sempermed’s assets. The exact amount will be announced when the annual figures for 2022 are published on 22 March 2023.

The share of Semperit rises by 7.8 percent
After the deal was completed, the share of Semperit jumped clearly on Friday afternoon after it became known. At around 3.15 pm, the title was 7.8 percent higher at 18.10 euros.
