20 hours a week – big rush for two-day jobs in the Innviertel

Date:

B&R’s initiative to look for 20-hour employees in Eggelsberg in Upper Austria for a limited period of one year has resulted in a deluge of applications. Despite the automation specialist’s offensive on the labor market, companies in the region do not fear “bloodshed”.

Two free 10-hour shifts on weekends Monday through Friday – and earn like a full-time job! With this offer limited to one year, automation specialist B&R is looking for employees for production in Eggelsberg. The two-day working week should help to get rid of the overflowing order books.

And the move has been extremely well received. In the first 24 hours alone since the unusual job offer of the company, which belongs to the ABB Group, became known, more than 100 applications were received for the weekend shift in production and logistics, which will start in February. To make the further application process as simple as possible, one thing is certain: Qualified candidates are invited to specially scheduled job days.

The catchment area can grow
And how are businesses in the area responding to the B&R initiative? Do you fear that the competition for employees will become even tougher? KTM board member Viktor Sigl speaks of an “interesting measure”: “It could also appeal to people who live further away. The catchment area will certainly increase.” For the motorcycle manufacturer, which has its roots in Mattighofen and Munderfing, non-stop weekend work is no problem, and umbrella manufacturer Doppler in Braunau is also not afraid to leave employees.

And how does Berglandmilch boss Josef Braunshofer assess the situation? “We notice that working with weekend and night shifts is becoming an increasing problem.” The dairy operates a mozzarella production facility in Feldkirchen near Mattighofen.
