The tycoon confirms he will leave office if he finds “someone so foolish” as to agree to relieve him

Billionaire Elon Musk announced his decision to step down as CEO of Twitter on Tuesday after losing a poll on the platform asking users if he should step down.

“I will step down as CEO (executive director) as soon as I find someone stupid enough to accept the position,” Musk said in response to the social network poll that ended with 57.5 percent voting for him to leave office.

In that sense, he has maintained that once he finds a person to succeed him, he will manage the software teams and the servers alone.

The survey published by the magnate on Monday had only two options, so aside from the 57.5 percent who voted in favor of his departure, another 42.5 percent opposed his departure as the company’s CEO. In the consultation tweet, Musk stressed that he would abide by the results that emerge from it.

Musk’s resignation as CEO of Twitter comes nearly two months after the company’s $44,000 million (41,000 million euros) purchase agreement was made official.

During this time, the billionaire has become involved in several policies as a result of his decisions at the head of the social network, notable among which is the recent decision to ban the promotion of other social networks on his platform, which goes against his pledge to to defend freedom of expression.

Similarly, during Musk’s time as Twitter top executive, former US President Donald Trump has regained access to his account – suspended since early 2021 for promoting the attack on the United States Capitol. In addition, the profiles of several journalists were suspended for allegedly providing personal information about the tycoon.
