The fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin is to blame for the beer price craze does not exactly help his popularity at the Austrian table.
Fresh water, hops, malt and yeast – these four ingredients make up the most popular alcoholic thirst quencher in Austria. Every year, an average of just over 100 liters flows over the palate of the Austrians. The price increases of recent years were brushed off like foam on the upper lip. However, with the recent increase by the Brauunion, the tolerance limit has been reached.
