The E -mail brings speed to the domestic market for mobile phones. It has the years of contract with Telekom Austria (A1) through the distribution of A1 products at the end of the year and will be on the market next spring as a virtual provider (MVNO).
However, it remains loyal to A1, because the A1 network is used for the range of mobile phones. The best bidder was decided after a tender, Post -CHEO Walter Oblin said on Thursday.
Post is wider
Access to the mobile phones company is part of the post strategy to offer more than just postal services. In addition to financial services via Bank99 and Retail via Shöpping.at, telecommunication fits well, Oblin said.
According to data from the RTR Telekom Authority, there are currently more than 30 virtual providers in Austria, who rent in one of the three Austrian mobile networks. Hofer Telekom (Hot) is by far the largest virtual provider on the T-Mobile network, followed by Spusu in the Hutchison network.
Common past
Post and Telekom have a common past. Before the split in 1998, both were part of State Post and Telekom Austria AG (PTA), the successor organization of the KK Post and Telegraph Administration (PTV) founded in 1887. State -containing Öbag was involved in both companies now mentioned.
