The Ministry of Climate Protection led by Leonore Gewessler (Greens) will start a new financing offensive for electromobility at the end of January: in 2023, 95 million euros – less than in the previous year – will be made available to buyers of electric cars. When purchasing an electric car for private individuals, there is a net amount of up to 5,000 euros and charging boxes are also subsidized up to 600 euros. But are these subsidies sufficient in times of enormously increased electricity prices?
Last year, the subsidy pot for electric cars amounted to 167 million euros – and it was already used up in October. This year, at 95 million euros, that is significantly less. There are also changes in the criteria for financing – for example in the field of plug-in hybrid vehicles and commercial vehicles. With us you can find out what will be subsidized this year and how much – and how subsidized electric cars compare to internal combustion engines in terms of running costs.
