The environmental committee of the Brandenburg state parliament will discuss the dispute over the water supply at the German Tesla plant in Grünheide in a special session on Wednesday. So said the left-wing member of parliament and state secretary of his group, Thomas Domres.
According to Domres, free voters and leftists have registered for the special session in which Environment Minister Axel Vogel (Greens) and the State Environment Agency will comment on Wednesday. According to Domres, representatives of the Strausberg-Erkner water association should also be present.
Tesla had successfully objected to the regional water supplier’s involvement in all groundwater issues. The State Environment Agency gave the automaker responsibility for all questions related to groundwater. The Strausberg-Erkner water association is now taking legal action against the environmental authority’s decision.
The Ministry of the Environment announced last week that Tesla, like any other company in Germany, is regularly audited by various authorities. The district also announced it was responsible for overseeing water protection requirements for Tesla.
