Twitter’s London landlord has sued the US SMS service for overdue rent payments. Crown Estate, which manages properties for the British crown, said on Tuesday it had filed a complaint with a court in the British capital alleging Twitter was guilty of renting office space in a building near Piccadilly Circus . Twitter initially did not respond to the request.
Twitter was bought in October by Elon Musk, one of the richest people in the world. He paid $44 billion. Musk subsequently laid off about half of the workforce and allegedly cut rent payments as well.
The rent is also open for the head office
The San Francisco Chronicle reported on Monday that Twitter was also sued in San Francisco for overdue rent payments for December and January amounting to $6.8 million (6.3 million euros).
The British newspaper “Daily Telegraph” reported on Tuesday that Twitter signs and logos had been removed from the London office. However, an employee said the company was still located there.
