After several months of negotiations, Inditex signed an agreement on Thursday evening with the UGT and CC OO trade unions to set a minimum salary for the staff of all the group’s stores in Spain. collective labor agreement and conducting their salary policy on the basis of provincial agreements in the sector. With this agreement, the salaries of its 27,000 shop assistants are homogenized with a fixed base of 18,000 euros per year, an amount to which are added the allowances for seniority, variables, sales commissions, night shifts, etc. until she receives at least 22,000 euros per year in the case of a saleswoman with less than 18 months seniority in the company, according to union calculations.

The agreement provides for four installments. The first, dependents with less than 18 months seniority with a fixed base of 18,000 euros per year in twelve installments in all the group’s stores in Spain. The second rises to 20,000 euros for store employees who work for the company between 18 months and four years. The third, 22,000 euros from four years old. And the fourth tranche is a fixed amount of 24,500 euros per year for store managers.

These new tables will mean that there are areas where the increase is more than €6,000 per year for the employees, who increase their salaries by an average of 20%, although there are areas where salaries were lower, where they will increase by 40% according to rise to union estimates.

One of the main points of the agreement, the payment for weekends and holidays. The company equates Sundays outside working hours with holidays (whether or not normal working hours), for which it pays – at the choice of the employee – 12 euros per hour plus a day off in the case of full-time work, or 24 euros per hour. euros per hour without payroll. Sundays, which are regular days, are paid at 10 euros per hour.

Inditex has also decided to equate the increase in the commission rate collected by next of kin of all brands to 1.4%. And as for the special incentive or bonus on the payroll for this month of February and in the same month of 2024, it will be 1,000 euros for contracts of 24 hours or more, and 600 euros for less.

This agreement is valid for three years and will be applied to the payroll of Inditex employees from March 2023, but retroactive from last January.

The group employs more than 165,000 people in 177 countries, including a third of its total workforce in Spain, according to its annual report. About 85% work in the nearly 6,500 shops, 27,000 people in the case of Spain, the vast majority women.

At the end of this edition, the CGT union, which has promoted the mobilizations of the group’s workers, continues the strike called for this Saturday. In statements to this newspaper, they point out that while “most of the claims” have been resolved, they do not know what the “real impact on the payroll” of the bereaved will be and demand more clarity from the company.
