Montero expects the Tax and Customs Administration to process this support automatically, so that it can be paid as quickly as possible
The first day that the new check of 200 euros could be requested so that low-income families can cope with the inflation crisis, it received a flood of requests that even caused the website of the Tax Authorities to collapse. Nearly 600,000 people have already asked for this help; specifically 570,000 in one day, yesterday, according to the Minister of Finance and Public Functions, María Jesús Montero, in statements to TVE.
Montero also trusts that the IRS will process this check, one of the most important measures of the government’s latest anti-crisis plan, almost automatically so that it can be awarded and paid to families as quickly as possible, he said.
The Executive estimates that the aid will reach some six million people, some 4.2 million families, not including the more than nine million retirees or minimum vital income beneficiaries, who are excluded from this measure.
For example, employees, self-employed persons or beneficiaries of unemployment benefit or subsidy who had an income of less than EUR 27,000 in 2022 in full (the gross amount without discounting costs or deductions) and a maximum of EUR 75,000 in assets, can request this support as of 31 December 2022 (discounting habitual residence).
