Strike against network – student as member of a drug gang: new details

Date:

A student teacher from Graz allegedly acted as a member of a drug gang, we reported. The woman, who worked at an elementary school despite an investigation, was fired, according to a report from “Krone”. Police have since released more details.

The gang from Graz is said to have traded at least 60 kilos of cannabis with a street value of around 600,000 euros, we reported. Since June last year, detectives from the Graz criminal investigation department have been investigating the suspected seven men and four women between the ages of 18 and 30.

Active in primary school despite investigations
The story started at a traffic control in Graz-Liebenau. There, 500 grams of hemp was seized in a man’s vehicle. He had previously bought this in the parking lot of a nearby supermarket. As part of further investigation, police officers with the support of the EGS (Task to Combat Street Crime) found that there was an increase in drug trafficking in this parking lot.

Another deal should go through on August 9 of the previous year. But that never happened, as police attacked a student teacher’s apartment in Graz, which was considered a bunker for drugs, illegal weapons and narcotics. As the “Krone” revealed, despite investigations against her, the woman worked at an elementary school, but was given paid leave on Wednesday.

Officers were injured trying to escape
In any case, the police operation got underway, because two suspects tried to escape across the terrace in a spectacular way and even four officers were slightly injured. But it was all to no avail, four men between the ages of 19 and 22 and a 23-year-old woman were arrested.

A lot of evidence was also secured in the apartment: eleven kilograms of cannabis and some prohibited weapons – such as telescopic batons, stilettos, stun guns, brass knuckles or pistols with ammunition. Cars (Mercedes Benz) were also seized afterwards.

Cross-border trading
On the same evening that the bunker apartment was entered, the handcuffs also clicked for a 30-year-old Slovenian. He had previously delivered narcotics to the apartment. Nearly 40,000 euros in cash were secured from him. During the interrogations, he also admitted to bringing about 40 kilos of cannabis from Slovenia to Graz. An accomplice (25) was also arrested.

A total of seven men and four women were arrested. They partly confess, partly deny the crimes. Four suspects are currently in custody. The police investigation has been completed.
