Since the beginning of the smartphone era 15 years ago, there have been many technology collaborations between mobile phone manufacturers and optics specialists: Nokia relied early on on partner Zeiss, as did Sony. Nowadays, Chinese mobile phone manufacturers in particular have such technology partnerships: Xiaomi is working with Leica instead of Huawei, Oppo/OnePlus and Vivo with Hasselblad and Zeiss. These are not just brands, but rather the crème de la crème of the photo industry. But do these partnerships really make for better photos?
