Dangle in the area – exhausted hiking group saved at night from Berg

Date:

A four -person group of young Lithuanians caused use of the mountain rescue for an hour. A total of 18 helpers participated in the salvation of the young walkers in the night of Tuesday.

The four -member group from Lithuania had made a walk from Bad Goisern on Monday to the Goiserer Hütte on the Hohen Kalmberg. It started at 11 am in the parking lot of Stroblanger. Four hours later, around 3 p.m., the young walkers reached the hut.

Orientation problems
After a short rest we continued to the top of the Hohen Kalmberg. From there, the Lithuanians wanted to descend over the so -called deep gorge. This caused orientation problems: finding the path became increasingly difficult and the quartet progressed very slowly.

Around 9.30 pm the group finally made the first emergency call. The four were already invalid and because of the dark they are lost. With the help of GPS coordinates, the Lithuanians can be located at an altitude of 1700 meters east of the lower Kalmberg.

Faster
A team of the Mountain Rescue in Bad Goisern rese rese to the walkers with a quick front, which they also found. On location it was then decided to return the group over the Kalmberge to the Goiser Hütte, from where it could be brought to the valley with emergency vehicles.

The assignment was over at 4.30 am. A total of 18 members of the Bad Goisern Mountain Rescue, a police patrol and an Alpine Police Officer worked at the rescue operation.
