From the 3D printer to the staff canteen: in Steyr, the retail chain Hartlauer made a statement with its new training workshop. The company has invested 4.2 million euros in this.
Taschenried 20 in Steyr! If you search for this address on Google Maps, you will see two construction site photos and you will travel back in time. Because where the construction workers and craftsmen used to be, the Hartlauers training workshop for opticians and hearing care professionals and the production of spectacles is now located.
“We use the most modern machines and technologies and provide good, modern jobs,” enthuses Robert F. Hartlauer.
More than four million euros invested
The retail chain he manages invested 4.2 million euros in the new building and in the layout of the location, which has another advantage: previously the internal training was divided between Steyr, Graz and Kronstorf – now everything is bundled in one place.
The family business currently has 206 students, plus 128 people who are learning a trade through second-chance education: “With the shortened learning time, it is possible to be trained as a hearing care professional or optician in a year and a half.”
