Software company MIC now gives employees ‘Workation’ for a maximum of one month. A step with which the inhabitants of Linz are not alone. Because more and more freedom and more free time are included in the employment contract of employees in domestic companies.
“Boss, I will be gone longer this time!” MIC Managing Director Alfred Hiebl will hear this phrase more often now. Because: the specialist for customs and export control software that he manages now enables his employees to work, so that the stay in holiday destinations can be extended by working from there on agreed days.
“We have noticed that our employees want to visit their family in their country of origin for longer than legal holiday entitlements allow, and we have been looking for a solution,” says Hiebl. One MIC employee is currently in Costa Rica with his family, where he can stay for four weeks instead of two this time.
Maximum one month per year
30 countries are represented in the nearly 500 strong company in Linz, and the “workation” offer is open to everyone. This means you can work anywhere for up to one month a year.
At Storyclash, ‘workation’ has been the norm for two years now
At Storyclash, employees can work abroad for a maximum of two months. Combine fun with work: more and more freedom and free time are included in the employment contract. For example, two years ago software company Storyclash introduced the option for its employees to work abroad for a maximum of two months per year. In July, the inhabitants of Linz also have every Friday off.
“The magic word for companies today is flexibility – in terms of working hours and workplace,” emphasizes Klaus Hochreiter, co-founder of the online marketing agency eMagnetix from Bad Leonfelden.
