After six rounds, it is now certain: Representatives of employees in private hospitals in Austria approved the current offer for more salary with a large majority. However, the new collective labor agreement still has one last hurdle to overcome.
Workers in the approximately 80 private hospitals across Austria could soon earn more. An offer from the employer’s side was on the table until 12 noon on Wednesday for the employees to vote on, reports the “Krone”. After six rounds of negotiations and a warning strike, the workers’ side voted yes to the offer on Tuesday.
The whole package was approved by a large majority of vida union members, works councils and employees. The contents of the package: a housing bonus of four times 400 euros, 10.56 percent more salary, but in any case an increase of at least 180 euros, and a minimum gross salary of 2000 euros per month. A reduction in working hours to 39 hours per week had been agreed in advance.
The goal is a quick, final agreement
The employers, including eight private hospitals and rehabilitation centers in Salzburg, must confirm the offer of their negotiating team next Monday. The aim of the union is to reach a final agreement quickly. According to the union, the new collective labor agreement will be established on July 1 and the tax burden for the lower income groups will finally be relieved.
In Salzburg, some 1,200 employees, for example in the Wehrle-Diakonissen private clinic in Salzburg-Aigen or the Bad Vigaun medical center, would be better paid from the summer.
