In the second round of negotiations, employer and employee representatives in the chemical industry agreed on a new collective labor agreement. For the approximately 50,000 employees in the sector, the KV minimum wage will increase by 9.9 percent as of May 1 and the actual wage by 9 percent, the Chemical Industry Association announced on Monday evening.
According to the announcement, apprentice wages and shift and night allowances will also be increased by 9.9 percent.
Additional amount of 48 euros per month
The employer representatives and the trade unions PRO-GE and GPA have agreed on an additional monthly amount of 48 euros in all salary levels on top of the percentage increases.
“Big Challenges”
“The current economic situation poses major challenges for all of us. Rising costs for energy and raw materials are a major burden, affecting the international competitiveness of companies. That is why it was important to quickly create planning certainty,” said Rainer Schmidtmayer, chief negotiator for the employers, about the conclusion. According to Schmidtmayer, employees in the lower salary scales in particular would benefit from the agreement.
