The wages of employees at Austrian airports are progressing well: the collective labor agreement for blue-collar workers was increased by 18.06 percent compared to the previous year, the trade unions vida and GPA announced on Wednesday evening.
For students, the income increase is a maximum of 45 percent. Career starters now start with 2343 to 2525 euros gross per month. “The KV qualification is something to be proud of and a token of appreciation for the outstanding work of the employees. Partly due to the high inflation, the conclusion was a necessary step to safeguard the income level at the airport”, the negotiators of vida and GPA agree.
Airport employees received 5.6 percent more money as of January 1, 2023, and on May 1, 2023, all wage and salary components (including allowances) will be increased by a further 11.8 percent. In addition, there is a compound interest effect, according to the union, resulting in a total increase of no less than 18 percent. The KV diploma is valid for twelve months.
“Increased attractiveness of aviation jobs”
“This year’s KV negotiations were still marked by the consequences of the Covid 19 crisis,” said Günther Ofner, the aviation chairman of the Chambers of Commerce, in response to the agreement reached. At the same time, he states: “This diploma, which is unfortunately very expensive for companies, also recognizes the special burden during the Covid crisis and the successfully led restart in aviation. This will significantly increase the attractiveness of aviation jobs.”
