US President Donald Trump can exclude the Associated Press (AP) news agency from certain media events in the White House. The news agency was banned from the Media district in February, which continues to follow Trump while traveling and at press conferences in the White House.
The competent Court of Appeal temporarily suspended the decision of a lower body on Friday that AP had guaranteed access.
Confist for the name “Golf of America”
The AP refused to take over the term “Golf of America” for the Gulf of Mexico. The internationally active news agency, founded in 1846, pointed out that the waters have had the original name for more than 400 years.
The Federal Judge Trevor McFadden agreed in a first decision and referred to the freedom of expression that is guaranteed in the Constitution. The Court of Appeal now pushed a stop.
So far, the news agencies AP, Reuters and Bloomberg are part of the small media circle that report to the White House.
