In 2022, a total of 355.3 million parcels were transported in Austria. This corresponds to an increase of 16.1 million or 4.7 percent over the previous year. Of these, 325.2 million parcels were delivered domestically. 30.1 million parcels were transported abroad.
The increased volume of parcel shipments is also reflected in the industry’s sales figures. The total annual turnover in the parcel sector in Austria in 2022 totaled 1425.3 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 56.7 million euros compared to 2021, according to RTR (Rundfunk und Telekom Regulation GmbH).
On the other hand, the number of letters transported will fall again in 2022. The volume of letters fell by 2.7 percent to 599.1 million items compared to 2021. Annual turnover in the letter sector, however, showed a slight increase and amounted to 703.3 million euros.
