Salamander & Delka – Huge crowds at the shops

Date:

Following the closure announcement, 31 locations of the Salamander and Delka footwear companies are currently on the market. Textile companies, fast food chains and the shoe industry are showing great interest. Another goal is for as many employees as possible to start employment immediately.

Sales are currently taking place in the branches of the Salamander (20) and Delka (11) shoe chain. As reported, according to the plan, they should close at the end of September due to the problems of the German owner. But for many of the 300 employees, it could continue.

“There is at least one interested party for 25 of the 31 locations,” says Rainer Schrems, who took over the company from the German Ara Group and is now negotiating the sale. The size of the branches varies, starting at 200m2 and going up to 500m2. Ideally, a new trading company not only takes over the lease, but also the employees. Schrems: “People also want most.”

Among the possible buyers is a textile chain that could even take over eleven branches. Interested parties also come from the shoe and fast food sector. Apparently bankruptcy of the companies can be avoided. However, the employees who are not hired must expect dismissal. But retail is currently looking for staff everywhere. Depending on the source, up to 20,000 vacancies are mentioned.
