The third round of negotiations for the Metaller-KV would take place on Friday afternoon. But nothing came of it. The reason is anonymous threats against representatives of the metal technology industry.
The trade association sees the trade unions, among others, as co-responsible. In recent days they have personally mobilized against employers with mass attacks and aggressive language. You must now publicly distance yourself from insults and threats. Only then could the conversations continue again, which, according to a press release, requires a “factual communication style”.
Unions reject the accusation
The unions in turn reject the accusation. “Threats are absolutely unacceptable, we reject such an approach.” Discussions about social partnerships are the opposite of aggressiveness.
The two parties are still very far apart. The PRO-GE and GPA unions threatened to hold factory meetings if an agreement was not reached by Friday. While the unions demand 11.6 percent more wages, the employers’ offer is 2.5 percent and an annual one-off payment of 1,050 euros. Together with the government’s anti-inflation measures, this could cover inflation, the report said.
Ten percent increase in other sectors
Despite the differing ideas, unions appeared confident on Friday that they would soon be able to resume constructive negotiations. So far there have been two fruitless rounds of negotiations. Deals in other sectors have all been around ten percent plus in recent weeks, and inflation in recent months has been 9.6 percent. The social professions have demanded an increase of 15 percent in their KV round.
