More and more foreign unions are showing solidarity with striking Tesla workers in Sweden. After Denmark, Norway is now also mobilizing against the US electric vehicle manufacturer.
Norway’s largest trade union Fellesforbundet announced on Wednesday that it will block the transport of Tesla deliveries to Sweden from December 20. The aim is to convince the car manufacturer to conclude a collective agreement with the IF Metall trade union in Sweden.
The Danish transport workers’ union EF had previously announced that it would prevent car imports from being loaded in Sweden for the same reason. In Sweden, on the other hand, several unions have expressed solidarity with the strike of around 130 Tesla mechanics that has been going on since October; dock workers, electricians, cleaners and postmen refuse to work for the car manufacturer. Tesla rejects collective agreements.
Musk is suing the Swedish authorities
Company boss Elon Musk is trying to defend himself legally. His company filed two lawsuits against the Swedish state last week. The traffic authority should, among other things, be obliged to return undelivered license plates to Tesla’s possession. Tesla is also demanding a fine of one million kroner (about 87,000 euros) if the traffic authority does not enforce this.
