Important step: spusu introduces a minimum gross salary of 2000 euros

There is also good news to report from the Austrian economy before Christmas: spusu recently introduced a minimum gross salary of 2,000 euros. The mobile operator with a discount wants to send a strong signal for fair compensation.

The economic situation in recent years, with the pandemic, record inflation and rising costs of living, has significantly increased the financial burden for many people, including in Austria. According to estimates, 35 percent of households are now forced to deplete their savings or take on debt to make ends meet. The risk of poverty is no longer just a problem for marginalized groups, but has reached the center of society.

According to the Momentum Institute, around 20 percent of employees still earn a gross collective labor agreement salary of less than 2,000 euros. This affects approximately 800,000 employees out of a total of 4 million employees. An increase in minimum wages to 2,000 euros would not only benefit part-time workers, but especially women.

Labor market in transition
At the same time, the employer market has been transformed into an employee market in recent years, the shortage of skilled workers is an increasingly serious problem, and the battle for the best talent is at the top of the priority list for many companies. According to a study by PwC, appropriate remuneration is one of the most important criteria when selecting an employer. A stable base salary comes second after flexible working hours. Employment conditions and additional services are also very important – according to karriere.at, these are already relevant for 41 percent of employees before they apply for a job.

2000 and there is still a lot of room for improvement
Against this background, the local company spusu, which is now entering the e-bike and wine industries in addition to the telecommunications sector, once again reaffirms its motto ‘Live better with spusu’ and has recently introduced a minimum gross salary of 2,000 euros. . According to founder and director Franz Pichler, there is sufficient room for improvement to provide an incentive for high performance and further development.

According to Pichler, spusu attaches great importance to emphasizing that “we do not stand for low wages, but rather are a company in which committed employees, regardless of our different fields, have the opportunity to earn very well and develop professionally and personally . Ultimately, money alone doesn’t make you happy, but neither do benefits alone. We are convinced that an employer should offer both,” he says.

Focus on employee motivation
According to the director, spusu has had a benefit program with more than 30 points for years. The exclusive fitness offers at the various spusu locations are particularly appreciated. Regular sports team events and the opportunity to help shape a “flexible, local family business with flat hierarchies and fast decision-making processes” motivate the employees.

Despite the fact that spusu employs people of all ages, some team members have been on board for twenty years and the first few have already retired, according to Pichler it can hardly be denied that the family business is a magnet for young employees – that the average age of the working population is 30 years.
