Nuria Vilanova: “Despite the uncertainty, there are many investment opportunities in Ibero-America”

Date:

The president of CEAPI appreciates the “social impact” generated by companies as a “weapon to transform society”, at the gates of the organization’s V Congress, in the Dominican Republic

Despite two years of pandemic, now exacerbated by the uncertainty caused by the war in Ukraine, key businessmen and experts from all over Ibero-America will meet on June 1 and 2 in what will be the V edition of the CEAPI Congress (Consejo Empresarial Alliance for Ibero-America). An event in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) that brings together agents from Spain and the rest of the countries of this great economic area under the motto ‘Innovation and opportunity in times of uncertainty’.

During these two days, the various speakers and participants will discuss the social role of companies as participants in the transformation to a society that is on the way to a more sustainable, fairer, more responsible and competitive recovery. In addition, important personalities from the political, business and institutional world of all countries will participate. CEAPI President Nuria Vilanova believes that despite the difficulties the economies are experiencing (inflation, bottlenecks, commodity crisis, etc.), there are “many investment opportunities” on both sides of the Atlantic.

Vilanova wants to emphasize the role companies have when it comes to investing “for the impact” generated by starting initiatives and companies. For this reason, it values the analysis of the “type of companies that invest and especially the social impact these companies have as a weapon to transform society.”

The president of CEAPI admits that Ibero-America is still lagging behind in aspects such as the evolution of technology, “although that allows for faster integration into all the novelties.” In addition, he points out that the congress will discuss “what the accelerators of change could be”: the creation of these companies with impact, technology, the integration of women and their capacity for leadership and entrepreneurship or the generational change that contribute “greater social conscience” and tend to be “more innovative”, according to Nuria Vilanova.

It also refers to a reality closely linked to the entire Ibero-American region: the agricultural world. “Faced with the food crisis coming up, this is an opportunity for all of America and for the world if we succeed in accelerating factors of production.” In addition, it highlights the initiatives of agro-industrial companies, even far from the major cities in the area.

This fifth edition of CEAPI takes place in the Dominican Republic, precisely to adapt to the idea of ”more Ibero-America”, emphasizes Nuria Vilanova. “Evidence that we believe is organizing it on both sides of the Atlantic,” he says. In fact, the idea of the organization is to have one event in Spain and another in Latin America in each subsequent edition.

The forum will reflect on how companies have led so far and especially what the future scenarios and challenges are that countries face, incorporating the impact of digitalization into the economic and investment decisions, for the benefit of people, territory and planet, with to generate shared value.
