Survey – Austrians are more satisfied in their jobs

Date:

Eight in ten employees want to stay with their current employer, while only one in five is actively looking for a new job. Result: When companies are looking for new staff, they must have a lot to offer: especially a high salary, a good working atmosphere and recognition of achievements.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to find staff – and that is also because most Austrians feel comfortable in their current job. According to a survey by liveCREATOR Consulting GmbH, 67 percent of employees are satisfied with their jobs, only ten percent are somewhat or very dissatisfied and the rest are neutral. Only 18 percent are actively looking for a new job, as people have generally become more safety conscious and avoid risks.

For companies looking for employees, this means they have to work harder to find talent. And they have more to offer: according to the research, the most important aspects of an employment relationship are a good working atmosphere, a high income and job security. But employees also want to be recognized for their achievements and appreciated by their managers.

These criteria apply in particular to the IT industry, which is currently seen as the most attractive sector of the economy from the perspective of employees (see graph). Crafts come second, followed by public administration. The sectors that few people find attractive are the catering industry.
