The number of job seekers in Upper Austria rose to 43,420 people in January 2024, and another 10,183 people were undergoing training! Even though more workers are available again, companies still have to be creative when recruiting. Fussl brings flexibility to the race.
The faltering economic engine is showing increasingly clear signals on the labor market, but in January alone there were 22,499 vacancies unfilled in Upper Austria. “The search for personnel remains difficult, even though we have the feeling that it is becoming easier to find new colleagues,” says Ernst Mayr.
Together with his brother Karl Mayr, he runs Fussl Modestrasse with 200 branches in Austria and Germany. The need for employees is great: the textile retailer from Ort im Innkreis currently has 182 vacancies in Austria. “We also advertise a position in different variants: from part-time through temporary work on Saturdays to full-time. With us, everything is possible from four and a half hours to 42 hours per week,” says Mayr.
“Search becomes more difficult”
Anyone who applies for a job at Fussl will not be faced with any surprises when it comes to tasks, says the boss: “With us you immediately see what awaits you: we decorate, prepare the clothes, give advice and assist the cash register.” in the long term due to demographic developments No relief is expected on the labor market, Mayr says thoughtfully: “Finding employees is becoming more difficult.”
“Some came back to us”
How difficult or easy is it to retain staff? “One or two years ago, the willingness to change was very great. However, some of the employees who left came back to us after a few months.”
