Gastro Price Rise – “Can’t Sell Cheaper Than Buy”

The price increases in the catering industry are causing a stir: occasionally 10 euros and more are paid for a glass of Aperol Spritz, meals usually cost between 15 and 20 euros: “The purchase of goods has become significantly more expensive for us, and energy is the costs have also risen – and since we don’t want serving robots, the human factor is also an important cost factor in the hospitality industry,” said Peter Dobcak, president of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Gastro, in “Demanded” with Gerhard Koller.

The issue of staff shortages is considered a major concern, but the oft-demanded salary increase would drive the cost spiral back up – and is already doing so.
