Max Kloger – Tirol Industrial Association has a new boss

Date:

The general meeting of the Tyrolean Industrial Association elected a new leader on Tuesday. Max Kloger will be in charge for the next four years. In his closing speech, previous boss Christoph Swarovski spoke out against politics.

There are exactly 428 industrial companies in Tyrol. The direct, indirect and induced regional gross added value amounts to 13.7 billion euros. With a share of 38.9 percent in the total gross added value, industry is the most important economic engine. The year before, 14.28 billion euros worth of goods were produced (+13.77% compared to 2022). The Industrial Association (IV) presented these and other figures on Tuesday.

Reason for this: At the general meeting the new president was elected for the next four years. Earlier, previous boss Christoph Swarovski took stock.

The outgoing president spoke out against politics
He did not mince his words and also spoke out against politics. “Although I have always been committed to improving competitiveness, we must admit that Europe has fallen behind and that we risk losing touch with the United States and Asia. Exploding labor costs, high energy prices, especially compared to the US, labor shortages, uncontrolled immigration and a European Union that prefers to burden companies with new rules and laws rather than support them in global competition are putting the industry under great pressure.

The 32-hour working week is a thorn in the side, Max Kloger is the new president
The IV always tried to counter the downward trend. “But this is of limited use if some parties want to further fuel the anti-entrepreneurial mood with unrealistic demands, such as the legal reduction of working hours to 32 hours with full wage compensation,” Swarovski said.

Max Kloger, managing director of Tiroler Rohre GmbH, was elected new president. He is supported by Eduard Fröschl, Holger König, Simon Meinschad, Gabriele Punz-Praxmarer and Karlheinz Wex. “We have set ourselves the target that Tyrol, which currently ranks 30th, will be among the top 20 industrial regions in Europe by 2030,” said Kloger.
