In some cases more than 60 percent. – AK analysis: Food prices rose sharply

Date:

The experts of the Tyrolean Labor Chamber are once again sounding the alarm. The reason is a current price survey for everyday foodstuffs. This time the prices have been compared from spring 2022 with this spring.

Three dealers were investigated. The result: over the entire period, shopping carts became 24.1, 22.05 and 20.37 percent more expensive. The AK also provides concrete examples. Mazola corn oil increased by 48.33 percent at all three suppliers. The kilogram of Viennese fine granulated sugar increased by as much as 60.61 percent at one supplier and by 59 percent at the other.

AK boss Zangerl calls for action
For Finis Finest Wheat Flour, customers have to pay 33.56 percent more with one provider and 25.16 percent more with the other. Bad Ischler table salt rose by 20.42 percent at all three retailers. AK boss Erwin Zangerl is once again calling for price transparency measures. “Above all, the existing lack of transparency in price developments must be urgently remedied before blatant price increases occur again, which particularly affect low incomes.”

He is particularly interested in the costs and profits of individual actors.
