A 26-year-old was hit and fatally injured by tree trunks during forestry work in Obdach (Murtal district) on Saturday afternoon.
The 26-year-old from Murtal district was repairing wind damage in his forest area around 11.45 am. He wanted to use a tractor and a winch to pull two fallen tree trunks from the steep slope to a forest road. The man was not wearing protective clothing during this step.
Hit in the main area
The two logs became stuck in a still standing tree, causing the cable clamp connections on the winch pull cable to become loose. The logs fell to the ground, hitting the 26-year-old in the head area. The man suffered fatal injuries.
