Good news for Innsbruck Airport: from the 2024/25 winter season, the important Frankfurt hub will again be served directly from the Tyrolean capital. When the summer flight schedule started in April, the route to Frankfurt was temporarily cancelled.
“Air Dolomiti will operate the Innsbruck – Frankfurt flight connection on behalf of Deutsche Lufthansa from October 27, 2024, with up to two daily flights. The flights have already been updated in the LH systems,” the airport said in a statement on Tuesday.
Route canceled in the summer flight schedule
“Unplanned bottlenecks in aircraft capacity at the Lufthansa Group” led to the temporary suspension of flight connections at the end of March. “Although these aircraft bottlenecks continue, Innsbruck Airport has managed to return the route from Frankfurt to Innsbruck for the 2024/2025 winter season,” the airport said.
“Constructive and intensive exchange”
Naturally, those responsible for the airport are very happy. Airport director Marco Pernetta speaks of an “excellent basis for discussion and cooperation” with the German Lufthansa: “A very constructive and intensive exchange has taken place on an equal level in recent months. We are therefore very pleased that we can once again offer our passengers a connection to Frankfurt.”
Pernetta hopes that the flights to Frankfurt will continue after the winter: “International accessibility is an important location factor for Tyrol.”
