Kids decide: Billionaire Buffett wants to donate his entire fortune

Date:

Billionaire American investor Warren Buffett (93) wants to donate his entire fortune to charity after his death. According to Buffett, the decision where the equivalent of some 122 billion euros should flow to will have to be made by his children.

The man, who has been among the ten richest people in the world since 1993, announced this in an interview with the Wall Street Journal this weekend. The decision must be unanimous for Susie (71), Howard (69) and Peter (66), according to Buffett. The children, who are all already retired, will be charged with the fiduciary management of the assets.

Buffett is already considered a billionaire with the largest amount of donations ever (approximately $48 billion to date). For this, he was hailed by Forbes magazine as the “greatest philanthropist of all time”.

Buffett wants to help people ‘who weren’t so lucky’
Because his ongoing donations — including to the foundation of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda — will stop upon his death, the investor apparently wants to make provisions for the time afterward. He wants to help those “who weren’t as fortunate as we were,” Buffett explained in the interview.
