Homophobic attack – Lesbian couple beaten up on street

Date:

Tori and Emma actually just wanted to celebrate their anniversary in a relaxed way in Halifax, Canada, but the lesbian couple’s romantic trip ended in disaster.

Emma MacLean and her friend Tori were sexually assaulted by a group of men on the street on June 22. When Tori was attacked with homophobic insults, Emma could no longer tolerate it.

“Hey, that’s my girlfriend!” She allegedly stood up for Tori. The group then attacked the two women. Video scenes show the couple surrounded by seven to ten men, after which a scuffle breaks out.

Soon Tori is on the ground while Emma is held down by one of the suspected attackers.

“I saw Tori being pushed onto the steps just outside the BMO Center. There are concrete steps, she’s on her back — that’s when the men started hitting her and kicking her,” Emma told CTV News.

She explained that she “basically jumped on the back of one of the men, put him in a chokehold and tried to restrain him.”

Emma said she “felt punches and kicks, and then I felt it on my nose and there was blood.” She suffered bruising, a broken nose and a chipped tooth.

Eventually, a passerby alerted the police, who were patrolling the area, but by the time the officers arrived, the fight had already ended. The men then accused the two women of starting the fight. Ultimately, there were no reports.

Emma does not want to accept this. She shared photos of the men on Facebook and called on eyewitnesses who have information about the incident, or perhaps even video footage, to come forward.
