The current flood and storm damage is among the largest natural disasters for the Wiener Städtische Versicherung since its foundation in 1824.
“The total extent of the damage cannot yet be precisely quantified based on past experience; we currently expect a figure of between 80 and 100 million euros,” Doris Wendler, director of the Wiener-Städtische, said in a press release on Wednesday.
In the four days of the storm, the damage was “as high as the average for a whole year,” Wendler said. Italy’s low “Anett” with heavy rain and showers has led to floods, floods and mudslides in recent days, causing destruction.
Lower Austria in particular is affected. But Vienna, parts of Upper Austria, Styria and Burgenland were also hit by the storms.
