The transport sector collects 20% of vacancies in Spain

Date:

Mechanics, electricians, welders and blacksmiths are among the most difficult professions to fill

In addition to unemployment and temporary employment, another serious problem currently facing the Spanish labor market is the labor shortage. Today there is a significant percentage of offers that remain unfilled or difficult to cover: more than 110,000 vacancies despite the fact that there are almost three million unemployed. But there are sectors that are most affected by this imbalance and, despite what one might think, the hospitality industry is not the most affected, as are the telecommunications professionals. Leading the way is the transport and storage sector, with nearly two in ten unfilled vacancies registered, 19.6%, according to Adecco Group’s ‘Labor Market Needs’ report published Monday, based on a survey of more than 27,000 people. . representative companies.

The second place is taken by the head office activities, where the percentage of offers with difficult coverage rises to 13.3%. The third position is for the industry, with 12.1% of the positions uncovered. It is closely followed by commerce and sales, at 11.6%, and slightly further behind, architectural and engineering services (8%).

Mechanics and machine technicians and workers specializing in electrical and electrical engineering are currently the most difficult jobs to fill, according to 29% of those surveyed by Adecco, who also place welders, sheet metal workers, metal fabricators, blacksmiths, toolmakers and the like, with 26% of responses.

This same percentage is also presented by specialized technicians and scientific and intellectual and/or support professionals in the fields of physical, chemical, mathematical and engineering sciences, according to the classification of profiles of the National Catalog of Occupations of the National Institute of Statistics (IN) .

With 21% of the comments being technical specialists and scientific professionals in health, and with 16% being directors of operations and precision mechanics in metals, potters, glass blowers, craftsmen and graphic arts.

On the contrary, the positions of cashiers and clerks, excluding banks, would be the least difficult to fill, with 1% of respondents’ answers, while construction workers and waiters are also placed at the bottom of the table, at around 9%.

On the other hand, the most in-demand jobs in the vacancies published between the past months of January and May are administrative and administrative assistant, occupying the first position of the ranking of more than 60 vacancies with 8.8% of The offers. This is followed by worker/operator, with 7.4%; commercial, which brings together 5.3%; warehouse worker/forklift driver (4.7% of the offers), and in fifth place IT (2.8%).

Despite the government – specifically its second vice president, Yolanda Díaz – blaming this shortage of workers on low wages and precarious conditions, the director of the Adecco Group Institute, Javier Blasco, states that low wages “do not always are to blame for vacancies”, as there are also no candidates for industrial or construction jobs with a salary of around EUR 40,000 per year.
