Biofuel is intended to save CO2 in road traffic. Biogenic fuel is already added by ten to seven percent to petrol and diesel. A bigger increase doesn’t fail because of technology; countless vehicles are designed for higher organic content. The biggest problem lies in the tax on mineral oils and the CO2 price – there are no incentives.
“If we increase the organic content of diesel from seven to ten percent, these three percentage points more will save one million tons of CO2 annually,” calculates industrialist Ewald-Marco Münzer. The Styrian site is a leader in the production of waste fuel that is blended with gasoline and diesel. With diesel, ten percent of the fuel from biogenic fuel flows into the tank under the name E10, with seven percent of gasoline. Münzer demands an increase.
