The employees of the Gloggnitz Billa market have recently been supported in their work by two robots. One person cleans all day, the other shows customers the latest offers, guides them to the products they want and can even dance – which is especially popular with the children.
Two years ago, Marko Miskovic became the first private businessman in Austria to take over a Billa store. Now he is the first to use two robots in his store in Gloggnitz, Lower Austria. The two are called “Gloggi” and “Glupschi”. One cleans, the other dances. And the customers are enthusiastic. Especially from “Gloggi”. He shows customers the latest offers and even takes them personally to the items they are looking for. He has saved more than 150 products for this purpose. He kindly warns people who get in his way: “Please make room for me, I can’t get through.”
“Gloggi” can dance, but he also gets tired and grumbles
The highlight, especially for children: “Gloggi” can also dance at the push of a button. But unfortunately not forever. On the third attempt you hear a slightly irritated robot grumbling: “Come on, I have work, I can’t dance all the time!” In return, he always has free fruit and sweets ready for the kids.
In general, Miskovic is constantly looking for creative ideas for his market. The Bosnian-born man came to Austria at the age of three. In 2003 he started his internship at Merkur and in 2011 he was the youngest market manager in Austria. And in 2022 he was asked by the REWE Group whether he wanted to take over the Billa market in Gloggnitz. This was accompanied by a move from Vienna to small Enzenreith. Something he doesn’t regret to this day.
