Customers of the bankrupt furniture chain Kika/Leiner will receive a significant discount from today, Thursday. A minimum of 20 percent is deducted from goods in stock. But according to the company, this is not yet a sale.
However, the discount does not apply to exhibitions, it was said on Thursday. Meanwhile, it is still unclear which prepayments from customers comply with the contracts, that is, the goods are delivered.
Vouchers are no longer accepted
Following the opening of Kika/Leiner’s insolvency proceedings last week, vouchers are no longer accepted in the furniture store’s branches. Anyone who still has outstanding vouchers and wants to get money back must register the outstanding amount as a bankruptcy claim.
However, only the quota set in the procedure will be returned and not the full voucher value.
1,500 employees are facing the end
Last week, furniture store Kika/Leiner filed for bankruptcy for the second time in two years. The company became bankrupt as early as 2023, shortly after René Benkos Signa sold the Kika/Leiner properties to Graz Supernova and the operational furniture business to trading manager Hermann Wieser.
As a result, 23 of the 40 branches were closed and 1,500 employees were laid off. The remaining 17 locations are now at risk and the company currently employs 1,400 people.
