Since November 29, nothing has been the same in and around Mattighofen. KTM announced that day that bankruptcy was inevitable and that many employees would lose their jobs. In the middle of all this is Daniel Lang (35), the mayor of Mattighofen. The “Krone” asked him for an interview.
“Kron”: Mr. Mayor, is this the most difficult phase of your time as city manager?
Daniel Long: Honestly: no. I became mayor in the middle of the Corona period. I was only sworn in in November because half of the municipal council was Corona positive. That’s why we postponed it. Then I thought to myself, “It can’t get much worse.” And then came the energy crisis, then the war in Ukraine and now the bankruptcy of KTM. I guess I wasn’t right. Frankly, I believe we will overcome this economic crisis locally.
