The bankruptcy at KTM now also has consequences for Stefan Pierer and his official activities. It is now clear that the KTM boss will no longer act as chairman of the Upper Austrian Industry Association. His deputies will take over planned operations, which have already taken place in recent days.
Stefan Pierer was already missing from the Advent reception of the Industrial Association at the tobacco factory in Linz last week, and his planned appearance at the Oberbank business gala in January 2025 was also canceled – which was not surprising, since the entrepreneur’s focus was due to the bankruptcy of the motorcycle manufacturer KTM who wants to save his life’s work is currently elsewhere.
Consistency was demanded behind closed doors
However, others had already made it clear behind closed doors in recent days: a continuation of the Pierer era as spokesperson for Upper Austrian industry was no longer justifiable and a consequence was demanded.
Deputies step into the breach
The Upper Austrian Industry Association has now made a decision: the KTM boss will no longer be available for the executive committee, it is said. Fortunately, the management committee is large enough that replacements are available: Starlim boss Thomas Bründl, voestalpine chairman Herbert Eibensteiner, Fronius owner Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß and F. Peter Mitterbauer (Miba) are now taking over the vacant agendas. Bründl recently attended the Industrial Association’s Advent reception and will also take the stage in place of Pierer at the Oberbank business gala.
New elections in June
The new election of the Presidium of the Industrial Association will take place in June 2025. It is unclear who will officially succeed Pierer here.
