Benko’s boat trip – curator with angry speech after ‘Krone’ report

Date:

After the ‘Krone’ report on René Benko’s luxury boat trips on Lake Garda, the bankruptcy trustee reported. Andreas Grabenweger is angry – and accuses the Tyrolean speculator of hypocrisy.

A boat trip by Signa founder René Benko, who had gone bankrupt, on Lake Garda in Italy last August caused problems. In a photo published in the “Krone” on Wednesday, Benko is at the helm of his blue motorboat. “It had to be clear to everyone involved that the boat could no longer be put into use after the bankruptcy was declared,” says Grabenweger.

The incident at Lake Garda is an “indication that the debtor’s willingness to cooperate is not present to the extent that I have been repeatedly assured,” said the trustee, who has since been responsible as an entrepreneur for handling Benko’s insolvency at the Innsbruck Regional Court. March.

Benko’s actions would only have civil or criminal consequences “if actual damage were caused.” However, the use of the boat and the associated increase in operating hours “did not lead to a decrease in the value of the auctioned object,” Grabenweger said. The sports boat has now been sold after an appraiser set the price at 95,000 euros.

The ‘monstrous’ lifestyle of René Benko
The curator actually stated that it was “completely clear” that a debtor after the declaration of bankruptcy “may only dispose of his assets with the permission of the curator”. “Mr. Benko” apparently did not comply with this, Grabenweger showed incomprehension.

The curator also made it clear to the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ) that he did not approve of Benko’s still luxurious lifestyle and found it “scandalous”: “This appearance despite all demands, despite the bankruptcies, despite the failure of the the entire Signa Group simply continues to live unapologetically.” However, he repeatedly stated that third parties are free to support a debtor. He assured the “FAZ” that he would make optimal use of his action options.

Despite the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, Benko still lives with his family in a luxury villa in the Igls district of Innsbruck. This is funded by his mother or a private foundation. A hunting trip in Styria last September with the outgoing Tyrolean deputy governor Georg Dornauer (SPÖ) also recently caused excitement and criticism.
