The son of investor Hans Peter Haselsteiner, Klemens Haselsteiner, died unexpectedly at the age of 44. The construction company announced this in a broadcast on Friday evening.
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that the CEO of Strabag SE, Klemens Haselsteiner, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly today, January 17, 2025. The thoughts of all employees are with his family,” the billion-dollar company said in a message to investors. Initially nothing was known about the cause of death.
Haselsteiner is survived by three children
Klemens was the third eldest son of construction magnate Hans Peter Haselsteiner. He studied business administration at the University of Chicago and then worked for Strabag in Russia for five years and for another five years for Strabag subsidiary Tüblin in Stuttgart before being appointed to the board of directors. The 44-year-old leaves behind three children.
He has been a board member since January 1, 2020 and chairman of the board of Strabag SE since January 1, 2023. His mandate would have lasted until the end of 2026. Strabag is one of the largest construction groups in Europe. The other board members will temporarily take over the agendas for which Klemens Haselsteiner is responsible.
