Last year there was a renewed fall in sales at the Salzburg company. A recovery is only expected in 2026. The planning of a third work will continue.
At the Sun Protection manufacturer Schlotterer, located in ADNET (Tennengau), sales fell in the financial year 2024 for the second year in a row. The revenue fell from EUR 112 million to EUR 105 million – a minus of around seven percent. The reasons for this are in the difficult residential construction sector, the company said on Thursday. The management also does not expect big leaps from the current year. Increases are only expected again in 2026.
“The new apartment has been declining sharply since 2022. The amount of quantity growth in the renovation can only be partially compensated, ”said director Peter Gubisch in the course of a press conference. In 2025, the number of new building permits should increase by 15 percent – this only had an impact in 2026 and 2027. “This is why no growth is planned for this year. We expect sales to rise again until the coming year. 2025 will probably be our most difficult year in 20 years.
Expansion plans of the company remain upright
As the company emphasized, despite a decrease in turnover of 20 percent compared to the record year 2022, there were no operational termination. On average, 596 employees were employed by Schlotterer in the previous year, this year 35 employees have to be added to the production this year and some students are also admitted. And: for 2024, employees must also receive a premium for the amount of an average monthly content.
The extension plans of the company also remain upright. Schlotterer wants to build a third work at the business location in ADNET. The commercial approval and the authorized approval are available and there is currently no report for the positive notification of nature conservation. The construction for Werk III is planned for 2026 and the commissioning takes place in 2030. “We assume that the need for sun protection will increase again. The population is growing in Austria and Germany, and in Germany alone 600,000 apartments are missing, ”said Gubisch. “In order to achieve the EU climate goals, the construction stocks must also be thermally renovated. This will increase the need for protecting the sun. “
Schlotterer is part of the Upper Austrian IFN Holding, which also includes the Window manufacturer internorm or the topic door producer. The company produces shutters, Venetian blinds and textile sun, insect and pollen protection. The export share in sales is more than 30 percent.
